Huge corporations build newer “smart” skyscrapers, which contain tennis courts, swimming-pools, gardens, beauty labs and many other conveniences just in one place. Most importantly people don’t stop dreaming and inventing newer technology tools. There are many instant messengers, chat rooms with cameras, smartphones that allow people to communicate even when they are far from each other. Smart houses provide all that and even more. Now I am going to tell you about the place where I live. I live with my Mom in St. Petersburg. It is a big and beautiful Russian city. They call it “cultural capital” and I fully agree with this statement. We moved here a year ago. My Mom is an artist and she wanted to get in the center of cultural life.

We rent a one-room flat near Komendantsky Prospekt Station. Our block of flats is very long and high. There are twenty-two floors in it. We live on the sixteenth floor. Our flat is rather spacious. There is a hall, a living room, a kitchen, a bathroom and a lavatory in it. The bathroom and the lavatory are just usual: a bathtub, a sink, a mirror, a couple of shelves with cosmetics and a lavatory pan. There is a huge wardrobe with all our clothes in the hall, we usually dress up there.

Half of the living room is a space for having rest – with a bunk bed, a sofa and a computer desk. The other half is Mom’s atelier. She works on her paintings and sculptures there. Our kitchen is “a few rooms in one”: we cook, eat and study there. There is a cupboard, a kitchen table, a gas stove, an oven, a sink and a dining table with four chairs there. We had to put a bookcase here, too, because there wasn’t enough space in the living room. So we also use the dining table for reading and writing. It is rather convenient. My Mom often uses the computer for her work and then I study in the kitchen.

In conclusion, I would like to say that there isn’t really enough space for the two of us in this flat. Most of Mom’s instruments and materials are kept at home. But we tried to divide the space effectively and use it to the full. I like my home; it is always a pleasure to come back there. Some people live in big fashionable houses, others can afford only small flats – it is a matter of budget. Another matter is what our homes can tell about our lives and us. You may own a mansion or you may rent a room in a big apartment with strangers. Anyway, you have your space, where you can create your little cozy corner.

We love our Arkhangelsk! The most beautiful place in the city is the Children’s Park. It is located in the very center of the city, near the wide river Severnaya Dvina.

Summer is coming and I’m looking forward to it. It’s my favourite season, of course, because the weather is great and you don’t have to go to school. After a long and difficult school year you get really tired of studies, so I’m going to enjoy my summer holidays and have much fun. I hope they will be as exciting as my last summer holidays were. I already have a lot of plans for them.

I would like to spend the first summer month in the country, at my grandparents’. My friends and cousins will be waiting for me there. I miss them so much. We shall go fishing, sunbathing, swimming, horse-riding and playing football. And I’m going to help my grandparents about the garden. So I will be outdoors all the time.

I can’t wait for July because our family will travel to the seaside. We shall stay in a rented house for 2 weeks. I really enjoy the clean air and the beautiful scenery with beaches and mountains near the warm sea. I am going to swim and dive a lot. And I want to try the national cuisine, rich in fruit, vegetables and fish.

As for August, I would like to stay in the city and spend the time with my friends walking around, going to the cinema and cafes, playing computer games. My dream is to sleep as much as I like and to do what I like. I will ride my bike, go skateboarding or roller-skating in the park.

I hope that the summer of 2018 will be the best summer in my life and I will start my new school year happy, suntanned and refreshed!

I would like to talk about my favorite literary character Eugene Onegin from the novel by the great writer and poet Alexander Pushkin.
The plot of “Eugene Onegin” is very simple and well known. Tatiana fell in love with Onegin immediately, but he was able to fall in love with her only after enormous upheavals that took place in his chilled heart.
But despite the fact they loved each other, they could not connect their fate. And the reason of this situation is not any external circumstances, but their own mistakes, and their inability to find the right walk of life.
The young gentleman Eugene Onegin is depicted by Pushkin as a man with a very complex and contradictory character. I think especially with these treats the character attracts the reader’s attention. But it is very difficult to determine the own attitude to the character.
Onegin is not a goodie, but not a baddie. It forces the reader actively, closer and deeper to understand the nature of the hero of the novel and the assessment of his actions.
To my mind, Onegin combines the best human qualities such as dignity and honor. His chilled soul does not evoke scorn at me.
He hated the high life and respected sincere and light people, but because of his character and the prevailing circumstances of life he could not open to these people and that was destroying him from inside.
I understand the state of mind of Eugene Onegin. Perhaps, that is why he is my favorite character.
