Every country in te world, from its foundation, has developed with its own customs and traditions. So, every country has its unique elements of culture. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, or just the UK, isn’t an exception. Great Britain is famous for a lot of things: different cathedrals, museums, squares, towers. So, as for me, this country is associated with many things.

    Let me tell a few words about geography of the Britain. The United Kingdom is situated on the island of Great Britain and in the north-east of Ireland. The country is washed by the Atlantic Ocean in the west and by the North Sea in the east. The English Channel separates the UK from Europe.

    Surely, the first thing that comes to my mind about the UK is the sights of London, its capital. It is the main Britain’s tourist attraction. London has a rich history begun a long time ago. The city was founded by the Romans in 43 AD on the banks of the River Thames. It became the capital of the UK in 1707. The best-known sights of London are Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Square, St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Tower and Big Ben. To my mind, all these places have more historical associations than any other place in Great Britain, and I think I’m not the only person who feels the same way. As for me, London is associated with red two-floored buses, which are called double-deckers.

    But not only England is famous for its customs. The Scottish kilts and bagpipes are popular all over the world. Their history began a long time ago. Kilt is a part of a Scottish national costume, a bagpipe is a national Scottish music instrument. No less popular such kind of sport as rugby, especially famous in Wales.

    Also, the British history gave the world the names of prominent public figures and great personalities such as writers, artists, scientists.

   Unfortunately, I’ve never been to the UK myself, but it has always been my dream to visit this amazing country. I’m really eager to see it with my own eyes. Maybe, I’ll really go there some day  with my family.

    Но не только Англия славится своими обычаями. Шотландские килты и волынки пользуются популярностью во всем мире. Их история началась давным-давно. Килт - часть шотландского национального костюма, волынка - Национальный шотландский музыкальный инструмент. Не менее популярен такой вид спорта, как регби, особенно известный в Уэльсе.  

    Также Британская история дала миру имена выдающихся общественных деятелей и великих личностей, таких как писатели, художники, ученые.  

   К сожалению, я никогда не был в Великобритании сам, но это всегда была моя мечта посетить эту удивительную страну. Я очень хочу увидеть это своими глазами. Может быть, я действительно поеду туда когда-нибудь со своей семьей.

There are lot of books by modern writers.

These books tell us about the most important problems of life and teach how to solve them. There are lots of magazines and newspapers in our library. We often use them preparing for the reports or the discussions. Sometimes we can come to the library and read them just for fun. Because they always contain very interesting and useful articles.

There is a stand in our library which illustrates the most important political events in our and other countries, articles about famous people and funny stories. There is another stand that is the exposition of new books.

Our librarian is always ready to help us to choose a necessary book. Sometimes we have literary disputes in our library. Our librarian often invites poets, journalists and other interesting people to meet with us. The pupils of our school like the library very much and go there with great pleasure.
