СУП ДРАКОНА.  Было королевство и в нём жил король. Король был очень толстым, потому что он любил поесть. Он начинал свой день с плотного завтрака в 8 часов и перекусывал в 10 часов,  и у него был большой обед в 12. Затем он смотрел игру в теннис или наблюдал за лошадьми, а затем у него был небольшой перекус в 2 часа дня. В 4 часа он ел бутерброды, а в 7 часов вечера он с радостью садился за королевский ужин. У короля была одна проблема: ему хотелось вносить изменения в каждое блюдо. Вот почему все его повара оставляли его,  им не нравилось измененять все свои рецепты. Однажды король сказал: "Мы собираемся провести конкурс, и тот кто скажет мне самый необычный рецепт, сможет стать королевским поваром!" На следующий  день все люди, которые думали, что они хорошие повара пришли к замку короля. Один молодой человек увидел, что длинная очередь стоит у замка короля и узнал о королевском конкурсе. Он узнал о проблеме, которая у поваров была с королем. Им не нравилось, что король говорил им, что делать, клал в кастрюли разные вещи и сам готовил. Поэтому, молодой человек подумал немного и встал в очередь. Во второй половине дня он, наконец, вошел во дворец. "Как твое имя и какой твой рецепт?" - король спросил. "Я Клаус Динкельспайс, Ваше Величество. У меня есть рецепт супа дракона!" Король сказал: "Это интересно. Что в нем" "Ой, не могу сказать", ответил Клаус. "Это секрет моей семьи"  "Понимаю," сказал король, "но если мы сможем достать дракона, ты должен будешь приготовить его для меня.  Теперь ты новый королевский повар. "

Клаус посмотрел  и увидел слезу на щеке дракона. "Вы собираетесь убить меня?" - спросил он. "Поверьте, дракон", сказал Клаус. "Я не хочу готовить вас. Я просто хотел обмануть короля и показать, что я был поваром. Я не умею готовить никакие супы". "О, это легко", сказал дракон. "Ты умеешь готовить?" - спросил Клаус. "Ну, я хорошо готовлю", ответил дракон и Клаус начал улыбаться. В 7 утра король пришел попробовать замечательный суп Клауса  из дракона. После четырёх порций он сказал: "Это один из лучших супов, которые я когда-либо ел!" "Видите ли, то, что делает суп дракона настолько необычным, заключается в том, что  только  дракон сам должен приготовить его! Позвольте мне представить моего помощника!" Клаус позвал дракона и тот пришел, в высоком белом поварском колпаке и в фартуке’Итак, теперь Клаус был счастлив жить в прекрасном дворце не будучи тяжело загруженным. Дракон чувствовал себя хорошо, будучи помощником королевского повара. Но счастливее всех был кухонный помощник. Ему не нужно было теперь разжигать огонь, потому что дракон зажигал его в печи, выпуская огонь из носа!

Tom Fitzpatrick was out walking one morning when he saw a very, very small man with a green jacket and a red cap sitting under a rock on the grass, fixing a shoe. Tom was very excited because he knew that the little man was a leprechaun. Leprechauns are magical people. They say that if you follow a leprechaun, you will find a pot of gold. But if you take your eyes off him for one moment, he will disappear.
“Good morning,” said Tom to the little man. “What are you doing?”
“That’s not your business,” said the small man in an unfriendly way.
Tom got angry and picked up the little man, saying, “Tell me now where you have put your gold, or I’ll never let you go!”
The little man was frightened. “All right,” he said. “I apologize.” I’ll show you where the gold is if you let me go.” And Tom agreed.
So off they went. The leprechaun went in front, and Tom never took his eyes off him. They walked for a long, long way. Finally they came to a field that was full of ragweed. The leprechaun pointed to one of the largest plants and said, “See that big plant there? Dig under it and you’ll find a pot full of gold.”
Tom knew it was true because leprechauns never lie. He couldn’t wait to get his hands on the gold. But he didn’t have a shovel to dig a hole. He would first have to go home and get one. So he took a red handkerchief from his pocket and tied it around the plant so that he would remember it. “Now,” he said to the leprechaun. “Promise me that you will not remove this handkerchief until I come back?”
“I won’t,” said the leprechaun. May I go now?”
“All right then,” said Tom. “You may go, and good luck to you!” He went back to his house to get a shovel, and then he ran back to the field as fast as he could, with his shovel on his shoulder.
But as soon as Tom returned to the field, he knew that the clever leprechaun had played a trick. Every plant in the field had a red handkerchief on it, and each plant looked exactly the same!
Tom dug first under one plant, and then under another, for many hours, but in the end he had to go home, dirty and empty handed.

Текст:Lisa: I was woken up by our counsellor, who asked me to go with her quickly. I got out of the tent and realized it was still night. My counsellor led me straight to the hospital tent. All of the counsellors and the camp ranger had been waiting for us there. I panicked. Who was hurt? Was it Dima? I walked into the tent and saw my brother on a bed. He was very pale, there were bandages on his hand, and his eyes were closed. My heart fell as I rushed to the bed, but Dima had already opened his eyes and smiled.
"I’m OK," he whispered. And then Daniel, David, all of the counsellors and the camp ranger came in. "Well, Lisa," the ranger said. "Let’s talk all of us together. We must find out what had happened." We sat down next to Dima’s bed and listened. This is what he told us.

"We had all been asleep when Daniel came back. But David must have been awake. He must have waited for Daniel, because the moment he turned up, David asked him something in an angry voice. His voice woke me up and I started to listen. They were talking very quietly, so I wasn’t able to hear them very well, but it was obvious that they were arguing. Then I saw the two of them leave the tent and head for the forest. I got up and followed them. But they ran really quickly and I lost them for a minute or two. When I finally caught up with them, they had stopped and were talking in angry voices again. I was lying in the bushes and watching them when I felt something touch my hand. I thought it was a tree branch and tried to move it away. Suddenly I felt a terrible pain in that hand and saw before my own eyes a huge bear. It must have scratched me. I cried out and after what seemed like a lifetime, I saw Daniel. I was paralyzed with horror and must have lost consciousness, because I don’t remember anything else. When I opened my eyes, Daniel was still next to me and the bear was gone."
When Dima finished his story, I turned to Daniel and hugged him. "Thank you, thank you," was all I could say. Daniel looked totally embarrassed. He was so modest. When the ranger asked him about what had happened, he said that he couldn’t really remember any detail and
blushed. Then it was David’s turn. I noticed a strange expression come over his face. David looked as if he was about to make some important decision. Then he started to talk:
"Daniel and I had had a small disagreement and went to the forest to discuss it. Then suddenly we heard someone ^ cry out. We rushed to the bushes and saw that Dima was ч lying on the ground and a bear cub was standing over him. There was blood all over Dima and he wasn’t moving. This must have saved him because the bear didn’t move either. Then Daniel took a big stick and threw it at the bear and I. left to check on something important."
"You can’t have gone away!" I interrupted him. "But I had to! I told you — I had to check on something important." David answered and suddenly his face relaxed as if he finally made up his mind. "I can’t believe you left them. Please tell me you didn’t," I whispered. "There may have been the cub’s mother nearby," said David quietly.
And then I started to shout: "Of course you left, David! Daniel made the choice for you as usual. He stayed with my brother and fought. Why is it that the more dangerous task is always taken by someone else?"
"I’m sorry that you are upset, Lisa. But believe me, I did what I thought was right," said David firmly. He didn’t look me in the eyes. What a coward he was! And I went on, "I don’t believe you! Just admit that you got scared and ran away! Won’t it be so much more honest? Just say that you were a coward!"
David’s face blushed with anger, but when he spoke his tone was calm but firm. "I didn’t run away Lisa, but you can think whatever you v/ant. I don’t really care." Задание:Analyze the behaviour of the people in the story. Say what they should/ could/ shouldn’t have done.
